Detection of electromagnetic radiation reflected,scattered, or emitted by components of the Earth system. Spectroscopy of remote sensing. Interpretation of received radiation via radiative transfer within a context of real measurements. Theory of instruments and detectors. Comparison of realized equipment to theoretical models. Prerequisite: Phys 192, Chem 106 (or AP Chem score of 4), Math 233; or permission of instructor.
