Advanced Planetary Geology: Ice Worlds

EARTH, ENVIRONMENTAL & PLANETARY SCIENCE 576

Discussion of icy bodies and terrains in the solar system. Water and other ices as geologic materials, including remote sensing of ices, impacts into ice, cryovolcanism, and ice tectonics. Focus on major satellites of Jupiter and Saturn (Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, and Titan), midsized icy satellites, and the martian polar caps. Prerequisite: EEPS 473 or permission of instructor.
