Igneous & Metamorphic Petrology

Earth And Planetary Sciences 437 - Spring 2021

Classification, origin, mineralogy, and geological occurrence of major igneous and metamorphic rocks. Laboratory emphasis on identification of rocks and minerals in hand specimens and in thin sections. Prerequisite: EPSc 352 or permission of instructor. Three class hours and one two-hour laboratory a week. SP 2021: Hybrid instruction; synchronous MWF lecture, M lab live in person (small class size).
