Combined rock and mineral course with focus on environmental issues and applications. Introduction to mineralogic and petrologic concepts relevant to environmental geoscience pursuits. Foundations of mineralogy and crystallography, key mineral groups, foundations of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock systems. Mineralogy of environmental systems such as soils, marine environments, aerosols, mines, and radioactive wastes. One full-day field trip planned. Prerequisites: EPSc 201 (may be taken concurrently) and Chem 106; or permission of instructor. Both EPS 336 and EPS 352 may be taken for credit, but only one may count towards the EPS or EES majors and minors. SP 2021: Hybrid instruction; In person, remote synchronous.
