Brown Bag: Lunar Analogs in the High Lava Plains of Oregon

Anna Schonwald, graduate student in Earth and planetary sciences

Every year the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Cameras science team travels to a different lunar analog site to improve our interpretations of the lunar surface from orbit. This year we traveled to the High Lava Plains in Oregon, visiting Apollo astronaut training sites and studying lava tubes and bimodal volcanism. How do lunar analogs provide insight for LROC image interpretations of the lunar surface?
